Undoubtedly, from a business standpoint, it is ROI: Return On Investment. Unless you are independently wealthy, you must factor in whether or not your volume of business can justify the cost of purchase.

For very large operations a large expensive CNC router may be the answer, but if you are just starting out in CNC routing it may pay you to look at a more economical solution.

After all, just ask yourself one question: What is the most expensive other machine you currently own? A very good panel saw is unlikely to cost the $150,00 some CNC routers cost once they are fully loaded with software and spindles.
